Realizing you’ll never need to buy another shirt: priceless
As a college student, I spend a lot of my time lounging about campus looking less than professional. I often achieve this by wearing sneakers, jeans, and a t-shirt. More often than not I am not wearing what would constitute as an “outfit.”
I also love the internet. I love internet phenomena, memes, and viral videos. I spent a lot of time poking around the world wide web entertaining myself with videos of cats playing keyboards. What can I say? I’m easily entertained.
As a result of these two factors, I am a perfect candidate for one of the biggest internet memes of all time: the Three Wolf Moon shirt.
The Three Wolf Moon shirt is a piece of clothing that is meant to be worn ironically because of its absurdity. The company that makes it, called The Mountain, make quite a few others shirts with alternatives designs like fierce dragons, snuggling wolves, and even a shirt that is made to look like overalls with a kitten in the pocket; that last one is pretty precious.
However none of their products have anywhere near the same success as this one. This shirt became an internet phenomenon when people started posting reviews of the shirt on its Amazon page. There are 1,688 reviews on Amazon, and almost every single one gives the shirt five out of five stars. Many claim the shirt attracts women, illustrated by Dwight K. Schrute casually wearing it on a date on the last season of The Office. Several reviews attribute supernatural events to the shirt’s use. Amazon user D. Drury stated “my son was born without bones and when I put this shirt on him he grew bones.” One of the best reviews is a simple one-liner; “Unfortunately I already had this exact picture tattooed on my chest, but this shirt is very useful in colder weather.” The tags hold similar hilarity, including “chick magnet,” “cancer cure,” and “Chuck Norris.”
I highly recommend this shirt, but the wearer must understand web culture, or at least have a vague sense of humor. It may not actually attract women or grow bones, but at the very least it will attract some high fives from others who are in on the joke.
Plus, the shirt was just elected to be the state shirt of New Hampshire!
