Nickel and Dimed

Published by at 9:37 pm under Reflection Blog

The book Nickel and Dimed gives us a firsthand account of several different low wage, poverty level scenarios. We can read how hard it is for the author and more importantly the people that she meets to survive. But I find it hard to believe someone who really is not poor to give us an accurate account of the population that makes up this part of America. In the book she gives herself limits (which I understand are necessary for personal safety amongst other things) as to how far she will take this poverty experiment. But if we could all put limits on poverty no one would be poor.
